Pike's Peak, Co
Just about half way up (19 miles from bottom to top) is a neat restaurant/lodge for those wishing to take a break. Just to the right of this building is a mandatory break check for those coming back down. Rangers use a laser light heat gun to check the temperature of your bakes. If above 300 degrees, you must pull over and wait until they cool back down. That black car in this photo pulled over on its way up to let that (60+ yr old car) cool down. By the way, he did make it all the way up.

That is a wonderful service they offer/require. But now I wonder what happened in the past to make it mandatory!?! Hmmm..Scary to think of that...Yikes. Glad the cool, older car made it to the top too...looks like a fun ride!
