Elephant Seal views
Just over an hours drive past Pismo Beach (just north of Hearst Castle) is an Elephant Seal colony that started about 1990 and has grown each year since. For some unknown reason they decided to show up along this part of the coastline to mate, have their pups and molt. After several months, they will head back out to sea for the remainder of the year. This is the only known colony that exists along the US coastline as they usually prefer distant (uninhabited) islands free of predators and people. A few pics give you and idea of what can be viewed.
