The "Catwalk", Glenwood, NM

Hello all,

First, sorry for not posting in our blog for awhile but as noted in my first post since arriving in Silver City we have been spending time really looking at this area's real estate as well as the services offered. We will be leaving this area in just over a week to get back to our "winter home" in Arizona.

I have posted photo's of several visits we made and wanted to share our pics as I do believe they are worth posting. This first will be of the Catwalk located in Glenwood, NM (about 67 mi north of S/City). This place was a real surprise. Much prettier that we thought. The second place was the small community of Pinos Altos just N/of S/City.

Thanks for hanging in there with us throughout the past several years. It has been a real joy to see and share our adventures with you all.

Take care

This photo gives you some details about the canyon as seen in the following pics.

The Catwalk trail starts off with some really cool canyon views.

This was taken underneath a rock formation below the Catwalk. I did lighten the photo a bit so that the water flow could be seen clearer.

Lots of different views as you ascend and descend the Catwalk trail.

The Catwalk was given a redo around 2003 and certainly took advantage of the natural terrain as it winds through the canyon.

The metal walkways of the Catwalk extend for about 275 ft but a much longer path continues before and after this section.

Certain sections really needed the supports as shown here.

This photo (and the next) was hard to do the photo's justice in how cool it was to view

Lots of stuff to see along the Catwalk pathway, but thought this was worth a post.

This photo was taken to illustrate the efforts to stabilize the rock wall surface. A very unusual place to visit for sure. If ever in the area I would certainly make it a place to see.

Pinos Altos

While in Silver City, we took a short 7 mile trip up Hwy 15 to this historic town that actually preceded S/City and was the very first settlement in the region. This photo is looking down "main street" (actually Hwy 15 bypass) and the few buildings still standing. An awful lot of history to be found for sure. Have posted a few photo's to give you an idea of what we saw.

Pinos Altos

I bet this place was really the "in place" to go 145 yrs ago.

Pinos Altos

Until recently this place was a fairly good steakhouse/bar but is now closed and undergoing a complete renovation (clearly this was needed, huh).

Found this interesting poster in the local ice cream shop, post office and general curios store all under one roof. Lots of stuff to look at for sure (also built in the 1860's).

As noted in the next photo.

We went inside this rather "old" museum and was pleasantly surprised at the collection of 19th century artifacts. Very interesting place to visit.
