Apache Junction, AZ

Have arrived in Apache Junction, AZ (just east of Phoenix) for a little longer stay. While here will be looking at various RV parks to see what this area has to offer. For the most part, we have just about completed our journey for '07 as winter is just around the corner and we should be right back where we started by December. For those following our travels, I hope you have enjoyed our photo's for the past six months as much as we had in taking them. There is so much to see and so little time. Will add a few more photos if we run across anything interesting, but will certainly pick things back up next spring. Thanks for tagging along.

The above photo was taken just before sunset of our site at Meridian RV Resort. I have included one more photo at sunset.

Sedona, AZ

The trip from Kanab, UT to Sedona, AZ was long but uneventful. Above is a photo of our RV park, Rancho Sedona. This is the only park in Sedona and is full most of the time.
Have posted a few photo's of this area which seems to be growing in leaps and bounds.

Sedona, AZ

A view of Sedona. It is a very beautiful city to say the least.

Sedona, AZ

A view taken just east of Sedona from of a dirt road that is a favorite for jeep tours.

Sedona, AZ

This formation is one that can be seen from the main roadway while driving through Sedona.

Sedona, AZ

When taking this photo, there was a fire s/east of Sedona (Payson, AZ) that caused a slight haze in the western canyons.

Sedona, AZ

Most of the rock formations have names, but just thought a few photo's would be good enough.

Sedona, AZ

A look while driving down one of the canyon roadways west of Sedona.

Sedona, AZ

This place certainly had some of the most unusual arts & crafts ever seen in one place. Have attached just a couple photo's to give an idea of the art in this area. There are so many stores and boutiques in the Sedona area with unusual paintings, photo's and sculptures, do not believe there are too many places quite like it.

Sedona, AZ

This metal piece was tucked away in the corner but found it interesting in its design.

Sedona, AZ

This metal work caught my attention and thought it worth posting.

Sedona, AZ

This glass artwork really lights up when the sun hits it.

Sedona, AZ

Thought this sculpture was worth a post for sure.

Sedona, AZ

I have not seen wind art/mobiles displayed like the one above. Most of these are over 6' high. There was a slight breeze that day and all of those mobiles were moving.

As named on the plaque to the right "Spring Fever".

Wishing you all well

We have been following the devastating fires in southern California and in particular San Diego County as that was our home for many years before my retirement early this year.

Our thoughts and prayers extend to all of our friends affected by this catastrophic event. We will be back in the San Diego area at the end of the year and will try to catch up with you all at that time.

Hang in there, we are thinking of you.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The last stop on our "must see" list while in southern Utah is Bryce Canyon (named after Ebenezer Bryce). Have included just a few photo's but should you ever find yourself in this region would certainly recommend that you make time to visit all of the national parks that are within 1/2 to 1 1/2 hrs away from Kanab.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Appropriately named per the following photo

Bryce Canyon National Park

A far view it is. That mesa on the upper left horizon is over 80 miles away.

Bryce Canyon National Park

As seen in the next photo - I suppose it would be a bridge if you walked across it but an arch if you just view it.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Very nice view for a photo.

Bryce Canyon National Park

As seen in the next several photo's.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Every viewpoint in the park has unique views. This one was very scenic as well.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Some great colors at this viewpoint.

Bryce Canyon National Park

This viewpoint is just at the end of the 18 mile highway through Bryce. The are multiple overlooks but have included a couple photo's of the above.

Bryce Canyon National Park

A southerly view along the rim from this viewpoint.

Looking east over the rim highway

Bryce Canyon National Park

This is the first viewpoint as you enter Bryce and is the main canyon area for some neat pictures (as seen below) as well as the canyon trails that extend for miles.

Bryce Canyon National Park

This particular canyon is one of the most colorful of them all.

Bryce Canyon National Park

A look from Sunset to the canyon rim

Bryce Canyon National Park

Thought a photo of the pine trees was worth a look. Most of the areas around the canyon walls are without any trees whatsoever.

Bryce Canyon National Park

This photo (and the next) gives a look for those wishing to hike down into Bryce.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Looking into the canyon you can see the beginning of the pathway (also used for the mule rides) to get to the bottom and beyond.

Bryce Canyon National Park

This is one of two tunnels on the highway to Bryce. The only thing to be mindful is the 13' 6" clearance at the top. Some of the big rigs out there could have a problem.

Corral Pink Sands State Park

Driving just north of Kanab, UT, came upon this state park and thought a couple photo's of this scenic park would be worth a look.

Corral Pink Sands State Park

This state park is a favorite for ATV - sand buggy - 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Corral Pink Sands State Park

A strange sight to see pink sand dunes mixed with pine trees.

Johnson Valley

While driving around the area east of Kanab, UT, came upon this group of abandoned structures that was probably a community of early settlers. There were no signs or information and was on fenced property but thought it was worth a photo.

North Rim, AZ

Since the north rim of the Grand Canyon was about 80 miles away, did not want to miss a chance to see such a spectacular national park. Have attached a few photo's that hopefully will provide a look of what can be seen. The north rim is just over 8200 ft in elevation.

North Rim, AZ

A look at the lodge dinning room. The rim is just left of the side windows.

North Rim, AZ

One of the views just east of the lodge.

As noted in the next photo

The "window".

A closer look through the window. Thats the Colorado River on the canyon floor.

North Rim, AZ

From the north rim, the canyon looks a little hazy with the afternoon sun in the southern sky.

The lodge always provides a nighttime fire just outside of the rear entrance. The canyon rim is just to the left of this photo.

A viewing looking southward. The south rim is just left of center at the top of this photo.
